Michael Taussig

A former President of the Melbourne University Soccer Club, Michael Taussig served as a referee for many years as well as a match commentator for GTV9 when it covered the Victorian State League in the early 1970s. He served as a member of the Victorian Soccer Federation Tribunal and Chairman of the Appeals Board for a decade between 1980 and 1990. He was honoured with Life Membership in 1990.

Bruno Tessari

Bruno Tessari


A top level local goalkeeper with Juventus and Moreland, Bruno Tessari became President of Triestina (now Essendon Royals) when they featured in the Victorian State League in the mid-1960s. He served on the Men's State League council throughout that time and contributed greatly to the thriving Metropolitan and District League Management Committees over the next decade, assuming the role of Chairman of the DLMC in 1978, the same year he was honoured with Life Membership by the Victorian Soccer Federation. Bruno Tessari passed away in January 2002.

Bill Thomas served as a council member and Deputy Chairman of the Victorian Amateur Soccer Football Association, ultimately being elected as Chairman in 1952, a position he held for almost a decade before it became the Victorian Soccer Federation in 1962. Thomas was honoured with Life Membership in 1966. 

Phillip Tresize

Joining Strathdale Soccer Club as a player in 1976, Phillip Tresize has been a long-time player and coach, and was honoured with Life Membership by the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League in 1996.

Bill Trew

Serving on the Committee of Management and as Deputy President of the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League, Bill Trew was honoured with Life Membership by the regional association in 1995.

Colin Tuffield

Colin Tuffield was a referee and later a referee inspector for more than three decades. A referee at all levels after migrating from the United Kingdom in 1964, Tuffield's contribution to Victorian football stretched from officiating junior competitions to international matches. He was acknowledged as a Life Member of Football Federation Victoria in 2009. Tuffield passed way after a short illness in 2018.

Fred Villiers

Fred Villiers


Born in England in 1928, Fred Villiers arrived in Melbourne in 1954 having already gained a decade of experience as a football writer in his former homeland. Upon arrival he began with the Melbourne Herald and later wrote for the Argus. Villiers launched Soccer News Weekly and in 1957 began an 11-year run as soccer editor of the Sporting Globe. He also hosted a weekly soccer news program on Melbourne Radio (3KZ) and  joined Channel 7’s World of Sport as soccer commentator in 1961, a position he held for 23 years. Elected in 1961 to the council of the Victorian Amateur Football Association, Villiers became Public Relations officer for the Victorian Soccer Federation in the late 1960s. He was appointed soccer editor of the Sunday Observer in 1968 and in 1972 introduced two full pages on soccer in the Melbourne Truth. Villiers became secretary of the Trustees of the Victorian Soccer Federation and was a member of the Football Australia Hall of Fame honours committee from its inception. He was honoured with life membership by the VSF in 2001. Fred Villiers passed away in 2018.

Born in Croatia  Billy Vojtek arrived in Melbourne as a young boy and became one of the most gifted footballers of his generation, representing Victoria at virtually every junior age level before establishing himself as a first-team regular with Croatia in 1962. A playing career spanning well over two decades, Vojtek starred in two spells with Croatia, Brunswick Juventus and Green Gully, winning virtually every trophy on offer on multiple occasions. He assumed player-coach roles with Green Gully, Western Suburbs and St Albans. He featured in 32 matches for Victoria at senior level, only second to Frank Micic, and also starred with the Socceroos, earning 44 caps between 1967 and 1973, narrowly missing selection in Australia's inaugural FIFA World Cup Squad. A member of the FA and FV Hall of Fame, Billy Vojtek was awarded with Life Membership in 2015.

Dr Charles Walker

Charles Walker


Dr Charles Walker was associated with the Polonia club for a dozen years, and served as a council member and Deputy Chairman of the Victorian Amateur Soccer Football Association through the 1950s. A president-elect of the Australian Sportsman's Association, he also served as Vice-Chairman of the Hakoah Club. Walker was honoured with Life Membership in 1966.

Jack Wandmaker


Born in Sunderland, England in 1925, Jack Wandmaker arrived in Melbourne in 1958, equipped with a wealth of experience as a player and match official. His move to the Latrobe Valley the following year witnessed almost half-a-century of involvement in football as a referee (until 1984), educator, administrator and coach, until his passing in 2007.

Born in County Cork, Ireland.

White started his playing career as an Amateur at Coventry & North Warwickshire, England between 1956 and 1974 where he ultimately took on the roles of the club's treasurer, secretary and coach.

White emigrated with his wife Barbara and family to Melbourne in 1975 where he was head-hunted by local Melbourne second division club Springvale City. He guided Springvale City to promotion in his first season with the club in 1976, coaching them in First division until 1979.

During this time he developed his coaching skills by attending national coaching courses in Australia, making the transition from a part-time football coaching position to full-time coach when he was offered the full-time regional director of coaching role for North Queensland, based in Townsville from 1979 to 1981. The role included the development of junior and senior players throughout North Queensland.

Tom Williams

A veteran of the Boer War, Tom Williams served as Vice President of the Victorian Soccer Football Association for over a decade in the 1930s and 1940s. He was honoured with Life Membership in 1930 and 

J O Wilshaw

J O Wilshaw arrived in Australia via England in 1920 and became widely known as an authoritative writer who covered football in Victoria for many years in the Sporting Globe, The Sun and The Herald. He was Chairman of the Victorian Soccer Football Association in 1929 and Vice President in 1933, the year he was honoured with Life Membership. He continued to serve as Treasurer to at least 1945. Wilshaw passed away in October 1954. 

David Wilson

David Wilson


With over half-a-century of involvement as a player, coach and administrator, David Wilson has been an immense advocate for football in the Latrobe Valley region. A coach of the Victorian Women's Futsal team for over a decade, Wilson toured the United Kingdom, Holland and Germany as Australian Under 18 Futsal Assistant Coach and Team Manager in 1984. He joined the Gippsland Soccer League Board in 2009, serving as Chairman and was honoured with life membership by Football Federation Victoria in 2014.
