Craig Reilly

Eric Richardson

A club official with Chadstone Soccer Club in the 1970s, Eric Richardson served on an early incarnation of the Victorian Soccer Federation District League Management Committee, then formed an integral part of the Metropolitan League Management Committee (MLMC) throughout the 1980s. He served as a member of the Board of Management and was honoured with Life Membership by the VSF in 1990, continuing on the MLMC until 1993.

John and Moya Riley

John Riley arrived in Melbourne from Scotland to play as a full-back with the Ukrainian Lions Soccer club, which went through various iterations before it amalgamated with Croatia. Beyond his playing career, John and his wife Moya Riley were caretakers of the Victorian Soccer Federation's Soccer House in Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, a role they reprised when the organisation relocated to Dorcas Street, South Melbourne. Terry Jones, Chief Executive Officer at the time, recommended they be honoured with Life Membership for their services in supporting the administration team, an honour they both received in 2000. John Riley passed away in 2015.

Jimmy Rooney

Jimmy Rooney


An inaugural Hall of Fame inductee, Jimmy Rooney arrived in Melbourne in 1968, establishing himself at USC Lions before a representative career which delivered 102 Australian caps and an appearance in the Socceroos first ever FIFA World Cup in 1974. He represented Victoria and New South Wales, earning 17 caps for the navy blue along with a goal against New York Cosmos. He made 145 appearances in the National Soccer League before moving onto coaching with varying degrees of success. The best player in the National Premier Leagues Victoria Grand Final each year is awarded the Jimmy Rooney Medal. Following his Hall of Fame induction in 2010, Rooney was honoured with Life Membership in 2014.

Serving as Chairman of the Victorian Soccer Federation's Investigation and Disciplinary Committee from 1977 through to 1994, Fred Royston was honoured with Life Membership by the VSF in 1990.

Vince Sagoleo

Vince Sagoleo


Instrumental in forming Shepparton South SC in 1971, Vince Sagoleo has been involved in football in the North Eastern region of Victoria for almost half-a-century. He served as President of the North Eastern Soccer League for three years between 2000 and 2002, and as a director and tribunal member for many more. Sagoleo was recognised for his service to football, awarded life membership by Football Federation Victoria in 2015.

Adam Sharp

Adam Sharp


For over four decades, Adam Sharp has been involved in the development of aspiring referees in regional Victoria via his voluntary efforts in the Junior Country Championships. Sharp served as a secretary of the Gippsland Referees branch and as a qualified referee coach, literally hundreds of male and female referees have been guided by his tutelage. Sharp currently serves as a NPL referee assessor and continues to influence our aspiring match officials. Sharp was honoured with Life Membership in 2022.

Jim Shepherd

Jim Shepherd


Jim Shepherd played as a goalkeeper for Castlemaine Soccer club in 1954 before its swift demise saw him move to Maryborough. When Castlemaine Soccer Club reformed in 1973, Shepherd would play there until his eventual retirement in 1985, marking over thirty years as a player which saw him offered life membership of the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League later that year. Shepherd passed away in 2019.

Joe Simonetta

Joe Simonetta


Born in Italy in 1935, Joe Simonetta was instrumental in creating the Milan Soccer Club in 1973, now called Mildura City Soccer Club. He was a coach and held the positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer throughout the club's early history. He was a key figure in the birth of the Sunraysia Soccer Association, where his efforts saw him honoured with life membership. Simonetta passed away in January 2021.

Ken Slack


Born in Lancashire in 1927, Ken Slack arrived in Melbourne with his wife Ellen and helped form Werribee City SC in 1969 and Mossfiel Rangers in 1971 (now Hoppers Crossing SC). He served as a secretary with Albion Rovers for several seasons and was the long-standing Chairman of the Victorian Soccer Federation (VSF) Junior Leagues Management Committee (JLMC). Awarded with life membership by the VSF in 1983, he served two terms with the VSF Board of Management and remained Chairman of the JLMC until his death in 1997, aged 74.

Ken Steel

Ken Steel


Ken Steel has been involved in football in the Gippsland region for over 50 years as a player, coach, referee, and administrator. A junior with Monash SC, he was a referee for over a decade and served as president of the Referees branch for several years. Steel was a Gippsland Soccer League (GSL) squad coordinator before being nominated as Chairman of the Victorian Country Leagues Association in 1987, a role he held for almost 30 years. He joined the Victorian Soccer Federation Junior League Management Committee in the mid 1990’s and served as Chairman of the GSL for 6 years. He was a Commissioner with Football Federation Victoria for five years and served as zone representative for Gippsland. Steel became a life member of Football Victoria in 2013.

Awarded Life Membership by the Western Victoria Soccer Association in 1998, Alex Stojanovski became a Life Member of Football Victoria in 2010.

Vasko Stojcevski

Vasko Stojcevski


A middle to lower level player throughout the 1970's and 1980's with several clubs based in the western suburbs, Vasko Stojcevski was an administrator with astute financial acumen. Elected to the Victorian Soccer Federation Commission in 1996, he became Deputy Chairman in 1999 before assuming the role of Chairman of Football Federation Victoria in 2006, where he served for a year in a decade long involvement at the strategic level of the game. Stojcevski was subsequently awarded with life membership in 2010.

Donald Sutherland

Donald Sutherland


Born in 1928, Donald Sutherland was a journalist with Soccer News throughout the 1950's and was a foundation member of the Victorian Soccer Federation in 1962. For six years he was chairman of the Metropolitan League Management Committee. Sutherland was also deputy chairman of the VSF Trustees, where he established a 100 per cent attendance record for meetings and proved a hard working and tireless administrator. He was awarded life membership in 1996, and in November of that year was selected by the then Soccer Australia to establish a committee to create a national Hall of Fame, where he devoted considerable time and effort in the foundation of the current Honours program.
