Updates to Metro/Regional Football following metro Melbourne lockdown extension

Following the State Government’s announcement of an extension to the lockdown for metropolitan Melbourne, Football Victoria (FV) confirms that all Football/Futsal activities in metro Melbourne will be suspended until 11.59pm Thursday, June 10.

This includes all metropolitan Melbourne organised competitions, practice matches & training sessions, refereeing training sessions, in-person referee & coaching courses, Futsal competitions and training, events and Gala days, Talent ID and FV elite development programs.

We are pleased to confirm that outdoor Junior football matches/training (for players aged 18 and under) and Senior training is able to resume for players in Regional Victoria including Geelong, from 11.59pm, Thursday, June 3subject to the release of updated Return To Play Conditions for Regional Victoria.

These conditions are now available here.

Futsal and other indoor football programs cannot return to play at this stage.

Please note that players and officials that live in metropolitan Melbourne but are part of a regional Club will not be able to take part in Football activity until the metropolitan restrictions are lifted.

Regional Clubs that are fixtured to play against metro Clubs will have these matches postponed.

FV will continue to work through rescheduling options for the missed round in regional Victoria and the two postponed rounds in metropolitan Melbourne. Further information on the rescheduling of these fixtures will be communicated as soon as possible. We encourage all metro Clubs to stay connected with parents and players to prepare them for the resumption of football.

Please visit our COVID-19 FAQs and the latest Coronavirus website update for further details.

Football Victoria will continue to liaise with the Department of Sport and Recreation and will provide updates as they are available.

Please prioritise your health and safety as metropolitan Melbourne continues in this lockdown. We look forward to seeing junior regional Victorian players back on the pitch this weekend - and we will all be back, as soon as it is safe to do so.
