Senior players

Football Victoria's technical team has been in consultation with its Sports Science Advisor regarding the impact of the lockdown on senior players.

In the mid-season phase of competitions, players who have been predominately injury-free and healthy so far in 2021, should be at this point ‘game fit' and able to accommodate minor training time loss due to injury/ health issues or suspension of play (COVID-19 restrictions).

Clubs are encouraged to support players to maintain physical activity in between competition suspension and return to competitive play.

This includes areas such as running loading, that includes high-speed running and change of direction movement at game speed intensity; actions involving quick starts and stops and individual technical skill practice.

This will help to ensure that any fitness loss is minor, at worst.
