Congratulations to Cam Moreno who was named the Male Community Referee of the Year at the FVCIB Full-Time Luncheon on Thursday, November 16 as part of the 2023 Football Victoria Community Awards.
In 2023, Moreno demonstrated outstanding officiating abilities, sportsmanship, and provided a positive experience for all participants.
Post the FVCIB event, Moreno said it "feels very good" to receive the award after an eventful season on the pitch.
"It feels great because it is my first time in winning an award like this," he explained.
"I had dreams and aspirations of becoming a football player but unfortunately, but it is very difficult to make it but I love just being involved.
"I love refereeing because I am able to meet new people and stay involved which is just terrific."
Moreno was a constant fixture within the refereeing community in 2023, completing over 100 matches during the season from junior games through to Men's and Women’s State League fixtures, finishing the season as the Match Official for the Metro Masters Final.
"It was my first time at a final so it was very special for me, it was awesome," he added.
