Top Victorian girls take part in identification match for Junior Matildas

Football Victoria (FV) in conjunction with Football Australia (FA) held an Elite Match for 2007/2008 Born Girls in Victoria on Tuesday, February 28 at Olympic Village.

Players affiliated with Football Victoria’s NTC Girls Program, as well as identified players from the 2022 National Youth Championships (NYC) were invited to participate in the match.

The match was used as an identification mechanism for CommBank Junior Matildas coaching staff, including Head Coach Rae Dower who was in attendance for the match. Throughout 2023, the CommBank Junior Matildas will be participating in qualifiers for the upcoming AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup in Indonesia 2024.

The match was highly competitive with some strong individual performances that caught the eye of the National Team coaches. FV hopes to have Victorian representation in upcoming CommBank Junior Matildas camps and qualifiers for the 2024 AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup.

A big thank you to CommBank Junior Matildas Coach Rae Dower and technical staff for attending and sharing knowledge and experiences with Victorian players and coaches.
