R U OK? DAY 2021

This Thursday September 9 is R U OK? DAY, a national day dedicated to suicide prevention and the promotion of mental health care.

2021 has again been a difficult year for Victorians. The challenges of lockdown and subsequent cancellation of many of our favourite activities, including football, have left many feeling particularly isolated.

While life’s ups and downs happen to all of us, do you know how the people in your world are really feeling?

There has never been a more relevant time to ask your friends, family and teammates “R U OK?” Your conversation has the power to change someone’s life.

The key theme this year is Are they really OK? Ask them today.’

Chances are, someone you know might be struggling. Your genuine support could make all the difference with what they are facing.

If someone says that they are not OK, you don’t need to be an expert to keep the conversation going. There are a range of resources on www.ruok.org.au to prepare you for these conversations, but also to help guide someone to find the welfare services.

If you’re in need of support, please contact Lifeline 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636.
