National Volunteer Week (17-23 May) is the annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our football clubs – without them, football stops. National Volunteer Week is the chance for our entire football community to stop and take a moment to recognise those unsung heroes in their Club.

They are the first to arrive and the last to leave. They put in the hours at the Club - but the countless hours behind closed doors often go unnoticed. Their expertise and community spirit is essential to the culture of every Club, in so many roles.

On behalf of everyone at Football Victoria - we send our enormous gratitude to the countless volunteers across the state, dedicated to allowing so many people to live and love football, for life.

The theme for this year's National Volunteer Week is Recognise. Reconnect. Reimagine. The theme acknowledges it is time to:

RECOGNISE, celebrate and thank volunteers for the vital role they play in our lives.
RECONNECT to what is important by giving our time to help others and ourselves.
REIMAGINE how we better support volunteers and communities they help.

In light of this, we are calling on our Victorian football family to celebrate the tremendous contribution that volunteers make both internally, within your club or organisation and externally.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Volunteers are often the unsung heroes of sporting clubs and organisation. We want to highlight these Victorians and also uncover their stories.

We’re asking our football community to think about the people in your clubs who give their time and expertise every week, to keep the club running.

Throughout National Volunteer Week, we'll showcase these stories and share them through our website and social media.
