The awards were held to coincide with International Women's Day, where the theme is #BalanceForBetter.

In 2017, FV signed the VicHealth Gender Equality Leadership Pledge and has been working hard to identify and change the processes and systems that are not equitable for women and girls to participate in football at all levels of the game.

Football Victoria has been working closely with clubs to provide favourable environments for women and girls to achieve great things both on and off the pitch.
