FV recognised for LGBTQ inclusion at Pride in Sport Awards

Football Victoria (FV) is delighted to announce it was recognised as a Bronze level organisation at the recent Pride in Sport Awards.

The awards showcase the results of the Australian Pride in Sport Index, a national benchmarking instrument used to assess LGBTQ inclusion within Australian sport. The event was held on the 13th of April at the Hyatt Regency Sydney and hosted by ABC Journalist and Twenty10 Board Member Mon Schafter.

The recognition is a result of FV’s sustained efforts to promote inclusion and equality within football and the wider community. It is the highest honour the organisation has received from Pride in Sport to date.

Karen Pearce, Executive Manager Growth and Inclusion was thrilled with the outcome, stating that FV will strive to build on this achievement moving forward.

“This recognition is a testament to FV’s dedication to truly make football for all. As an organisation we have continuously worked hard to ensure that we are championing inclusion and are at the forefront of diversity,” she said.

“Everyone at FV is immensely proud of this achievement and we will use this as inspiration to continue to develop and set a strong example for the future.”

In addition to awarding sporting organisations, the Australian Pride in Sport Awards acknowledged other achievements within sporting organisations, including those of coaches, role models, media outlets and others, for their contribution towards greater inclusion of people with diverse sexualities and genders.
