FV 2020 Referees Seminar

Over 300 referees attended the recent Football Victoria Referees Seminar at Monash University's Caulfield campus.

Presenters included FV CEO Peter Filopoulos, AFC & FFA referee assessor and instructor Jim Ouliaris, HAL & WWL Assistant referees Andrew Meimarakis and Janelle Sammut, FIFA & WWL Assistant Referees Laura Moya and Joanna Charaktis, FIFA & HAL Assistant Referee George Lakrindis and FV Women & Girls Program manager Andrea Swain.

The seminar covered educational topics such as laws of the game changes, handball, severity of fouls, fair play initiatives and offside.

Highlights included presentations of referee service awards recognising the 10,20 & 30 years’ service to Victorian football and the presentation of FIFA badges to FV referees named on the 2020 FIFA international panel.

"Our Referees Seminar was a fantastic day with a great line-up of presenters who provided our referees with first class education, preparing them well for the new season," FV Referee Manager Luke Brennan said.

"Each year the seminar grows with this year’s event sold out, highlighting the demand placed on the seminar by our referees. It’s also a great opportunity for our referees to meet in a more social environment and share their experiences during the day. Our aspiring referees also get the chance to interact with our W-League and A-league referees who they look up to as role models," Mr Brennan said.
