Football Victoria Board Director (Appointed)

Due to expired term of a current member of the board in line with our Constitution, Football Victoria is currently seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and passionate leader who is interested in steering the strategic direction of the sport, contributing to its governance, and supporting our CEO. 

The Board has assessed its composition via its Board Skills Matrix and requires candidates who bring skills specifically in Public Relations, Marketing and Communications or alternatively in Sports Medicine and Health.

Please note that the role is unpaid and on a volunteer appointed basis.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Knowledge of director responsibilities including an understanding of the role as well as the legal, ethical, fiduciary, and financial responsibilities
  • Strategic Contribution: Offer strategic input to the board to facilitate informed decision-making and ensure FV's long-term success.
  • Corporate Governance: Maintain the highest ethical and governance standards in all business operations and decisions.
  • Financial Oversight: Provide guidance and oversight on financial reporting, including audits, to maintain transparency and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with shareholders, regulators, and other key stakeholders to uphold the company's reputation and trust.
  • Contributing expertise, insights, and networks to support FV's mission and objectives.
  • Upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in all Board activities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Experienced non-executive director
  • Tertiary Qualifications in business/marketing/communications and/or public relations OR
  • Sports Medicine and Healthcare
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and facilitate constructive discussions.
  • A commitment to ethical leadership, diversity, and inclusion.

The term of appointment will be offered between 1-2 years dependent on date of commencement.
