We're thrilled to announce the presenters for the 2023 Football Victoria (FV) Coaching Conference, which will take place on December 16 at La Trobe University. 

The event has become a staple of the Victorian football calendar and is tailored for coaches of all backgrounds and skill levels.

Hosted by Louise McColl, the conference features a range of international and domestic presenters. Key topics include leadership, tactical collaboration and takings from the recent FIFA Women's World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023TM.

The conference will be recorded, so if you can't attend or wish to review the content post-event you will be able to view the presentations.

Food and beverage will be included on the day. Don't miss out, limited spots are available!

PRESENTERS

Louise McColl - Conference Host

Louise started her official coaching journey back in 2005 whilst playing for Warrington Town Ladies FC in Northwest England. She moved to Australia in 2008 and started coaching junior teams in Bendigo, Victoria.

Louise was awarded Rebel Sport Female Community Coach of the Year in 2019. Her resume includes Melbourne Victory's elite girls program and Coach Education Manager for the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League. 

 

Mami Yamaguchi - Washington Spirit Coach

Former Japan international who made 18 senior appearances between 2007-2011. Mami had a successful senior career as a player and transitioned into coaching in 2015-16 at Florida State. Since then, she worked as a player-coach at Detroit City FC and before becoming an Assistant Coach at Washington Spirit.

Dr. Janos Toth - Vasas Kubala 

Passionate about teaching in football, Janos has an impressive resume that features a UEFA A Licence and PhD in Sports Sciences. He has produced more than 30 publications related to his field.  

Janos will present on 'Tactical Collaboration' at the FV Coaching Conference.

Elena Sadiku - Everton FC

An experienced former professional in the Swedish top-flight, Elena played and coached in the UEFA Women's Champions League. She now works as Everton FC's WSL Academy Head Coach.

Elena will present on 'Leadership' at the FV Coaching Conference.

Ernie Merrick OAM - FA Chief Football Officer

A household name in the Australian football community, Ernie kicked off his coaching career in Melbourne before becoming the VIS Head Coach in 1992. After 12 years in the role moved to Melbourne Victory, where he won Coach of the Year twice before successful stints at Wellington Phoenix and Newcastle Jets.

Ernie will present on 'Takeaways from the Men’s and Women's World Cups'

Gary Cole - Football Coaches Australia President

A FV Hall of Famer and Socceroo, Gary Cole had a storied career in Victoria as both a player then manager. 

Beau Busch - PFA CO-CEO

Former A-League defender retired from professional football in 2012 after a spell in Scotland. Returning to Australia, Beau joined Professional Footballers Australia (PFA), where he has now become Co-CEO.

Michael Fabian - FV NPL Referees Manager

A referee in the Hungarian top-division for 13 years (2002-2015), Michael also served as a FIFA Referee for 9 years between 2007-2015 before relocating to Australia.

Siem Nijssen - PEC Zwolle GK Coach

Siem works at PEC Zwolle, a club with a decorated youth system and record of producing talent. As the Goalkeeper coach for the Under 18’s and Under 21’s, Siem has become a specialist in player development.

With experience at PSV Eindhoven, Almere City and Fortuna Sittard, Siem will bring a wealth of knowledge to Victorian coaches. 

Sean Gale - Football Victoria

A Talent Identification Manager with FV, Sean has over 12 years of experience in the youth development space for both males and females. He brings a well-rounded perspective to the conference having previously worked as a Technical Director, Head Coach and Coach Developer.

In addition to working with FV, Sean built an exemplary record nurturing young talent in the A-League academy and Pre-Academy spaces.
