League Honours: Men's National Premier Leagues
1909-1956 | 1958-1990 | 1991-2013 | 2014-2024 | Summary
The nationalisation of the top flight member federation competitions across the country in 2013 resulted in the creation of the National Premier Leagues Victoria (NPLV), which began in 2014, with South Melbourne winning the Championship. Finals Series were reintroduced in 2015, with a season-ending Grand Final determining the champion. The competition continues with 14 clubs battling it out for Victoria's greatest prize. 2020 became the first top tier season in Melbourne to be abandoned since 1918, owing to the coronavirus outbreak, with football returning in 2021, but with the season suffering the same fate despite eighteen rounds being completed. A mediation ruling resulted in another landmark moment, with a Minor Premier being crowned for both 2021 and 2022 in August. Oakleigh Cannons (twice) and Avondale have rounded out the post-covid era with debut Championship wins, South Melbourne suffering the unfortunate honour of winning a hat-trick of Minor Premierships without a Championship to show for their efforts.
