On the back of the ParaMatildas’ historic triumph at the 2024 IFCPF Women’s World Cup, Football Victoria (FV) is proud to announce a new initiative aimed at empowering women and girls with disabilities through para football training sessions.
The ParaMatildas made history this week by becoming the first Australian football team to win a World Cup, defeating the United States 6-2 in an incredible comeback victory.
In celebration of this milestone and to continue fostering pathways for athletes with disabilities, FV is launching training sessions for women and girls aged 14 and over with Cerebral Palsy (CP), Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), or stroke-related impairments.
These training sessions are designed to provide an inclusive and supportive environment where participants can develop their skills and connect with others who share a passion for football. For those aspiring to play competitively, this program offers a pathway to potentially represent Australia as a ParaMatilda.
The sessions will focus on foundational skills, team play, and fostering a love for football, regardless of experience or ability. Participants will have the chance to be mentored by experienced coaches who are passionate about para football and inclusivity.
