Football Victoria and School Sport Victoria unite to bring more football and Futsal to schools across the state.
Football Victoria (FV) is proud to partner with School Sport Victoria (SSV) to provide more opportunities than ever before for school students to live and love football.
Three tailor-made programs, including Futsal are set to kick-off in Term 4 (pending COVIDSafe restrictions) which are designed for students of different ages and abilities to get involved in the world game.
FV CEO Kimon Taliadoros is thrilled to team up with SSV to launch the initiatives, which will provide students a range of new and exciting pathways into football.
“Our partnership with School Sport Victoria continues to grow, with our united goal of providing more sporting opportunities for students, not only as players but as officials through our new Referees Academy program.
With an objective of achieving 50/50 participation by 2027, the partnership with SSV enables us to provide equal access for boys and girls to kick-start a lifelong love of football for many who have not yet played our beautiful game. We look forward to guiding more young Victorians on their football journey”, he said
WOMEN AND GIRLS GALA DAYS
With the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023TM around the corner, there has never been a better time for young women and girls to try football.
FV and SV will partner to host Gala Days for primary school students in Grades 4, 5 and 6. These events will be exclusively girls-only so participants can shine in a fun and safe environment.
The football will be played in our GO 5’s format, a 5-a-side version of the game which is suitable for players of all skill levels.
The program is entirely free for your school and will feature Matildas giveaways for all participants.
FUTSAL: 5-A-SIDE INDOOR FOOTBALL
FV in conjunction with SSV are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from SSV Primary and Secondary Schools who wish to participate in 'Futsal' 5-A-Side Indoor Football competitions in 2021 and 2022.
Our program will be kicking off in December with a Futsal Gala Day at La Trobe Sports Stadium located in Bundoora.
A Futsal Champions Cup is also being proposed for Runners-Up and Champions who qualify from any SSV Divisional and Regional Futsal events that can be held in 2021.
All boys and girls in Grades 5 & 6 and Years 7 & 8 are eligible to attend.
FV is also seeking EOI for schools wishing to participate in Futsal schools programs in 2022. The future of Futsal in Victoria is enormous, come and join the fun and signup today.
REFEREES ACADEMY
Refereeing is a tremendous part-time job that pays well, keeps you fit and builds valuable life skills. It’s a great way to stay involved in our game but also has potential to become a genuine career path.
FV and SSV are thrilled to offer our Refereeing Academy program to students who are aged between 15 and 18.
Our program will take you through the Level 4 Refereeing Course, which includes an online component that teaches the laws of the game and a practical component, where students will be trained by a qualified instructor out on the pitch.
You’ll have full support from Football Victoria’s Referees Department which boasts experienced referees who have officiated on some of the biggest stages in the world, including the Women’s World Cup, the Olympics and the European Champions League.
At the end of the course, students will be fully qualified to referee games and will be given opportunities to officiate school games.
