Tier 2 exposure sites; Oakleigh Cannons v Preston Lions postponed

Overnight, two Football/Futsal locations have been assessed as Tier 2 COVID-19 Public Exposure sites, as a confirmed COVID-19 case attended the premises while infectious.

Any individual who attended the NPL3 match between Preston Lions v Whittlesea Ranges at B.T. Connor Reserve on Friday, 21 May between 8:00pm - 11:30pm must get tested immediately and isolate in their home, away from other household members, until they receive a negative result.

In addition, anyone who attended Futsal Oz in Brunswick on May 23 between 9:00am - 10:00am must also get tested immediately and isolate in their home, away from other household members, until they receive a negative result.

This direction means that a large number of players and officials are now in isolation pending negative test results, making tonight’s FFA Cup match impossible to play as scheduled. As a result of this, Football Victoria can confirm that the FFA cup fixture between Oakleigh Cannons and Preston Lions, scheduled for 25 May, will be postponed.

Further information on an updated schedule for this match will be communicated when available. Ticket holders for tonight’s match will be contacted shortly with further information.

An important reminder: It is vital that all Clubs adhere to the COVIDSafe Public Events Framework. Please review the requirements to ensure your Club is meeting all requirements and refer to FV’s Return To Play Conditions for details.

The Victorian Government has also announced new restrictions which come into effect from 6pm, Tuesday 25 May. We urge our community to continue to review and adhere to these restrictions, in particular the use of masks in indoor areas for persons aged 12 years and older.

FV will continue to update our community as any relevant updates come to hand.

Please monitor the Victorian Government Coronavirus website for the latest updates.
