Football is back 18 Feb: Updated Return to Play Conditions released

Following today’s announcement confirming the end of Victoria’s lockdown at 11.59pm tonight and the removal of most Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions, we’re thrilled that football and futsal can return to pitches across the state from Thursday, 18 February.

This includes all organised competitions (Junior Boys NPL), practice matches, Club and/or player training sessions, GO Football programs, refereeing training sessions, coaching courses, Futsal competitions and training, Talent ID camps and FV elite development programs - provided FV’s latest Return To Play Conditions are adhered to.

Pleasingly, it also means that this weekend’s FFA Cup qualifying round matches can continue as fixtured.

We have today released updated Return To Play Conditions which outline some changes that Clubs and Associations should be aware of. Please note the following key points:

  • Full contact training and matches can return

  • Spectators are permitted subject to the applicable venue cap

  • Masks must be worn indoors at all times (clubrooms/pavilions)

  • Masks to be worn outdoors where social distancing can’t be achieved

  • Club canteens / cafes can reopen, subject to the above conditions and existing density limits

Compliance with FV’s Return to Play Conditions is mandatory.

A reminder also that any non-sanctioned FV activities are conducted at the club's own risk, as FV insurance may not apply.

We are delighted that football can return and look forward to seeing players across the state enjoying our beautiful game again from tomorrow.
