Women's & Men's Promotion, Relegation & Play-Offs for the 2024 Season

Football Victoria (FV) is pleased to announce the promotion and relegation structure for the 2024 season.

Following review and consultation with Clubs, FV is excited to unveil a change to enhance competition and foster growth.

The key change is the expansion of the Victorian Premier League Men's 2 (VPLM2) in 2025 from 12 Teams to 14 Teams.

This expansion comes from FV’s ongoing review of competition structures and collaboration with Clubs to ensure more opportunities for Community Clubs and Players to grow and develop within the Victorian football pyramid.

FV is confident that the expansion of the VPLM2 will further elevate the standard of football in Victoria and provide an exciting platform for Clubs and Players to showcase their talent.

Please note that any promotion and relegation provisions referred to in the graphic are subject to potential change. Change is to be determined by FV in its absolute discretion, as a result of FA actions, including the establishment of any new or varied FA Leagues or Divisions (including a National Second Tier), or compulsory pathways. Please refer to Regulation 10.11.2 of the 2024 Rules of Competition – Advanced Competitions.

In addition to the potential impacts of any new or varied Football Australia Leagues or Divisions, FV may consider divisional restructure across Men's State Leagues & Women's State Leagues competitions in 2025, to create optimal and balanced structures.

Promotion and relegation for National Premier League Women's (NPLW), Victorian Premier League Women's (VPLW), and Women’s State League (WSL) has been updated to reflect the Rules of Competition – Advanced Competitions and current league structures. With the Community Team Entry period closed (4 March), promotion and relegation for WSL may be subject to change.
