Football Victoria extends sincere and deep condolences to the Sampson family on the passing of Football Victoria Life Member Jim Sampson.
Jim's love of football and finding a club for his son to play locally would lead him to the newly formed club of Rosanna Soccer Club in the 1970s. Jim would go on to fulfil many roles within the club from president, secretary, treasurer, club manager and team manager for a staggering 42 year straight period from 1974-2016. It was only ill health that stopped him from continuing.
His involvement with Football would see him actively work with the Victorian Soccer Federation (VSF) Tribunal and planning of game growth throughout the 80's and 90's leading to him being honoured with a Football Victoria Life Membership recognising him for his contribution to the game.
Jim thoroughly enjoyed watching his sons James Jnr, grandsons Paul, Steven, Michael and Aiden play at Banyule Soccer Club with Michael still actively participating in their Senior Mens Reserves team with a highlight championship last year and Aiden currently in their under 8 Kangaroo team.
The Funeral Service for the Late Mr James Stephen Charles Sampson will be held at The Le Pine Chapel 848 Main Road, Eltham on WEDNESDAY May 15, 2019 at 10am. Private Cremation.
