SBS to Live Stream Victorian Football’s Biggest Day on The World Game Digital Platform

In a first for Victorian football, Australia’s most popular football platform, SBS icon The World Game, will live stream the entire 2019 NPL Victoria Senol Triple Header, exposing Victorian football’s finest to thousands more people.

To mark the event, Football Victoria has bought together some of the game’s biggest names to broadcast this year’s showpiece day this Sunday at AAMI Park.

Former Socceroos Sasa Ognenovski and Goran Lozanovski, alongside former Newcastle Jets coach Scott Miller, former Matildas legends Kate Gill and Melissa Barbieri, headline the experts during the 8-hour marathon from 12.15pm.

Football Victoria Chief Executive Officer Peter Filopoulos said he was thrilled to be able to assemble such a strong line up to showcase the occasion to football fans across the nation and internationally.

“More than 570 games were streamed live this year across NPL, NPLW and NPL2 in Victoria which has helped us increased our audience on our NPL Facebook page to almost 100,000 followers, an unprecedented level of exposure for our game,” Mr Filopoulos said.

“We now average 35,000 viewers per round in the NPL and across all three competitions our average viewing numbers exceed 55,000 each week. Adding SBS and The World Game to the Senol Triple Header Day is an amazing opportunity to showcase our state’s talent to so many more people. We truly thank SBS, a long-term advocate of football, for this incredible partnership,” he said.

Hosted by Michael Zappone, the Senol Triple Header kicks off with a preview of the Promotion/Relegation playoff between FC Bulleen Lions and Dandenong Thunder at 12.15pm. The pre-game show will feature Langwarrin SC coach Scott Miller, Moreland Zebras captain Cameron Watson and in-game commentary will come from Bryce Ruthven.

The NPLW Grand Final between Calder United and FC Bulleen Lions at 3.30pm is highlighted by former Matildas Kate Gill and Melissa Barbieri with commentary from Joey Lynch.

The broadcast marathon will conclude with the NPL Men’s Grand Final at 6.30pm. The pre-game show will preview the match between Avondale and Bentleigh Greens with former Socceroos Sasa Ognenovski and Goran Lovanovski and in game commentary from Chris Gleeson.

Commentators who featured regularly throughout the NPL Victoria season will also be part of the broadcast throughout the day, including Brandon Galgano, Damir Kulas, Katie Lambieski, Steve Curtain and Josh Parish.

The entire day will be produced by one of Australia’s most experienced television executives, Murray Shaw, who spent the past 14 years producing coverage of the Hyundai A-League, Westfield W-League, Asian Cup, Asian Champions League and Socceroos and Matildas Internationals.

The 2019 Senol Grand Final Triple Header broadcast commences at 12.15pm this Sunday. In addition to The World Game, it will also be live streamed on NPL Victoria’s You Tube and Facebook platforms.

Members of the football community are encouraged to get along to AAMI Park for the Festival of Football. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketek and start from $20 for adults, $15 for concession and children under 14 are admitted for free.
