Football Victoria (FV) hosted the inaugural International Showcase event at Darebin International Sports Centre, Thornbury between December 12-19.
The FV International Showcase was offered to players aged 12 and above, who in 2022 were a part of FV Talented Player Programs including SAP, TIDC and NTC. Over 250 players took part in the event which consisted of 4x training sessions and 2x matches.
FV Technical Director Boris Seroshtan said the International Showcase was an “overall success” with players being exposed to a variety of coaching styles and methods.
“The event also provided a great opportunity for all coaches to share ideas, grow their football knowledge and create new connections with other coaches around the world. FV Talented Player Program coaches were also a part of the experience, supporting and learning off the international coaches in a practical setting.
“We are eager to make the International Showcase an annual occurrence with even more clubs and coaches from different parts of the world in attendance.”
The training sessions were delivered by the international coaches throughout the week, with the assistance of FV Technical Staff and coaches from within the FV Talented Player Programs. International Technical Staff were also present as guest speakers at the 2022 FV Coaching Conference, both in person and via online webinars held throughout the week.
The experience was a positive one for Victorian players and coaches who were able to experience different coaching methods and styles and interact with the international staff throughout the week.
FV Talent Development Manager Boys Sean Gale explained the week was an opportunity to learn from high-level coaches.
"During the FV International Showcase event, Victorian players were exposed to high levels of training and game-based formats," he said.
"Staff from our talented player programs assisted the European-based Head Coaches throughout the week, gaining insights into alternate approaches to player development and talent identification."
