Heidelberg and Bulleen Champions of NPL Victoria

A bumper crowd of 4416 saw FC Bulleen Lions and Heidelberg United take home the major prizes at the NPL Triple Header at AAMI Park on Sunday.

A thrilling 3-2 win for Green Gully after extra time against Moreland City started the day as Gully came back from 2-0 down to save their place in the top division of Victorian football.

In the women's match, three second-half goals put Bulleen in control before a late South strike ended a 3-1 result. Bulleen Lions goalkeeper Emily Shields was adjudicated player of the match, while Caitlin Friend, Amy Jackson and Daniela Gudelj scored the goals.

In the men's NPL Grand Final, Heidelberg United won 2-1 with Adrian Zahra and Andrew Cartanos scoring in the first half, before Jonatan Germano's goal in the second half set up a big finish. Heidelberg target man Tom Cahill won the Jimmy Rooney Medal as best afield.
