2019 Nike F.C. Cup Final Preview

Box Hill United SC  will face the high-flying Calder United SC in the final of the Nike F.C. Cup this weekend.

Calder sits eight-points clear atop the NPLW Victoria table and is looking for an amazing hat-trick of cup wins when it takes the field at CB Smith Reserve at 5pm.

Whilst Calder appears a more than firm favourite, Box Hill United is capable of taking the silverware, which would be its first in this knockout competition since its inception in 2012.

Box Hill may sit seventh currently on the NPLW Victoria ladder, but it remains just one of two sides to beat Calder United in the league this season.

Box Hill’s Emma Hubbard told Football Victoria she was expecting a hard-fought and close encounter.

“Every time we play Calder it’s always a tough match, especially in a final. It’s going to be a very exciting game and a close one,” Hubbard said.

“I think Box Hill loves being the underdog. We have beaten them once this year so I can’t see any reason why we couldn’t beat them again.”

Calder United SC captain Emma Robers said the club was focussed on its third cup victory in as many seasons.

“It would be dream come true. We’ve worked so hard for it and there’s so much support for the team. It would mean so much to us,” she told FV.

“We know it’s going to be a battle. Box Hill have given us strife before but we’re eager to get out there and show them what we’re made of. We’re going to come out fighting so they’d better be ready!”

Football Victoria wishes both teams every success. If you can’t make the game, live streaming of the Nike F.C. Final is available on Football Victoria’s Youtube and Facebook channels.
