Victorian Ajdin Hrustic scores maiden Bundesliga goal to keep Frankfurt in top four contention

Football Victoria sends a huge congratulations to Ajdin Hrustic, who scored his first Bundesliga goal over the weekend in stunning fashion.

With his side Eintracht Frankfurt trailing Mainz 1-0, the Victorian produced a piece of individual brilliance to restore parity and keep his club’s top four hopes alive.

After his initial shot was blocked, Hrustic lost his balance, but managed to pounce on the rebound and lob the goalkeeper while still on the ground.

It was a proud moment for the Socceroo, who at 24 years old is starting to make his mark in Europe.

After a youth career that began at Heatherton United then South Melbourne FC, Hrustic transitioned to European football by joining Nottingham Forest in 2010.

A few moves then followed before he eventually landed at Dutch outfit Groningen, where he made more than 60 senior appearances. The Aussie then joined Frankfurt in late 2020.

Hrustic's meteoric rise could be capped off with Champions League football next year. Frankfurt’s draw keeps them in fifth place, a single point behind Borussia Dortmund with two games remaining.
