Upcoming changes to restrictions for Community Sport

Football Victoria (FV) welcomes the Victorian Government's announcement of a further relaxation of restrictions, allowing football to return across Victoria.

FV was pleased to note the following key changes announced, effective from 11.59pm June 17 and subject to the release of FV's RTP/RTT Conditions:

Regional Football

  • Indoor limit increases to 300 patrons per indoor space, subject to density limits (including participants/officials/spectators)
  • Movement between metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria permitted
  • For regional Victoria only, indoor and outdoor spectators are permitted, subject to density quotient and overall patron limit of 1000 (outdoor) and 300 (indoor)

Metropolitan Football

  • Indoor and outdoor Football/Futsal competition/matches can resume for all ages, with indoor subject to a facility cap of 50 people indoors
  • Removal of 25km travel limit
  • Movement between metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria permitted
  • Spectators are not permitted other than for parental supervision (1 per participant) and support people for players with additional needs
  • Limited to minimum number of people required to participate in and facilitate the activity (i.e. players, coaches) and must be within venue limits above for indoor sports

FV is actively seeking further detail in relation to the above and awaits the release of Restricted Activity Directions by the Victorian Government, to complete our Return To Play Conditions for Victoria.

FV will update our Conditions as quickly as possible upon receipt of this information, to ensure all Clubs and Associations have clarity for this weekend. We anticipate this release will be on Friday and will ensure it is as early as possible.

FV encourages all Clubs and Associations to commence any possible planning while awaiting these conditions, including sourcing written approval from the landowner (e.g. Council) before training/competition commences.

The competitions team have been liaising directly with Club contacts ahead of a return to play, with further information to be sent to those contacts later today.
