Trials for FV's Regional Talent ID & Skill Aquisition Phase Camps

Football Victoria (FV) is excited to be hosting trials this Saturday for its upcoming 2021 Regional Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP) and Talent Identification (ID) Camps.

The regional trials this Saturday will provide Under-13 to Under-17 boys the opportunity to be selected for the Regional Talent ID Camps, which will be held during the April and July School Holidays.

For younger players, boys and girls from Under-9 to Under-12 will have the opportunity to trial for the SAP Camps, which are scheduled during the April, July and September school holidays.

The trials will be for invited players only. Invitations will be based on nominations, scouting and recent SAP/TIDC participation. Players who have not been invited to trial can still register their expression of interest (EOI). EOI registrations will be considered by FV technical staff for a trial invitation.

FV Technical Director Boris Seroshtan is excited to see the talent on display from right across the state.

“These camps are integral part of Football Victoria’s strategy of talent support in regional areas. We continue to evolve our regional talented player programs with a key focus on providing more opportunities for regional players to train and play in quality state environments. The recent introduction of the Regional SAP Camps shows our commitment to strong foundation and provides opportunities for regional players from U9’s right through to U17’s."

Selected players will be invited to Melbourne during the school holidays to participate in training sessions run by FV coaching staff. This will provide an opportunity for players to train and play against other talented players from many regional areas in a central location. The players will also be invited to participate in State Gala Days with matches against metropolitan and regional players.

After the success of the 2020 SAP Camps, Sebastian Zancan, FV SAP Development Manager, is thrilled to return for another edition.

”The introduction of the Regional SAP Camps in 2020 was a great success, with Regional U9-12 Boys & Girls from all across Victoria coming together to train and play in Melbourne. The camp format provided an opportunity for FV Coaches and Technical Staff to work closely with the players, with 2 training sessions and 2 Gala Day matches across 2 days. The Gala Days produced a high standard of matches, with players involved in Regional and Metropolitan SAP Programs coming together to play with and against each other. We look forward to providing these opportunities again in 2021 to assist the development of our young Victorian players."

For relevant age groups , Talent ID Camps will run during the year as part of the identification, development and selection process for Victorian representative squads (where the number of sessions prior to tournaments will increase if selected).

This includes the Football Australia (FA) U14 and U15 National Youth Championships (NYC) that will be held in Coffs Harbour during the September School Holidays.

FV Boys Talent Development Manager, Andrew Kentepozidis says he has been impressed by the level of talent in regional areas.

“We are really impressed with the quality of players coming from regional Victoria. Our  talent identification camps will provide an important opportunity for players to be viewed in a competitive environment, under the guidance of FV coaching staff. As we continue to enhance our program the camps will also have selection opportunities for FV Elite Matches across the U13-U17 age groups.  We are in a great period for Victorian regional football with the Victorian Country squads displaying some outstanding performance at the Football Australia National Youth Championships.
