TIDC Gala Day Wrap

On Wednesday July 3, FV’s Technical Team backed up an incredible effort from the U12 Boys FV Cup to run the third Talent Identification and Development Centre (TIDC) Gala Day of the year held at Darebin. The first match of a total of 41 matches began at 8:30am with the U12/13 Metropolitan Girls, U13 Boys and U15 boys playing across the three pitches.

The day was a huge achievement with over 40 teams (500+ players) were involved in the Gala Day, inclusive of over 100 TIDC girls participating in the event for the first time. The TIDC Centres across girls and boys who participated in the matches were from the Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Gippsland, Metropolitan (North-West, Central and South-East), Shepparton, Sunraysia, Wangaratta and Wodonga regions of Victoria. Over 35 coaches at different stages of their development were also engaged in multiple teams throughout the day.

The tournament saw lots of high quality matches and provided players an opportunity to be viewed by FV and FFA technical staff in a match environment

FFA Boys Youth Development Manager Kevin Grima was on present to observe the tournament and was impressed with the event and talent coming through Victoria:

Congratulations to Football Victoria’s Technical Department for hosting the Talent Identification and Development Centre Gala Day at Darebin International Sports Centre on Wednesday 3rd July. Organising an event with 41 matches made up of boys and girls aged 12-16 years for players in metropolitan and regional programs is a challenging operational task, which the Football Victoria Technical Department managed with distinction.

The TIDC gala day was met with large amounts of positivity, with parents, coaches, referees and players alike speaking very highly about the organisation and execution of the event. The ‘can do’ attitude and positive team culture demonstrated by Football Victoria’s Technical Department ensured that the day flowed without a hitch to give players the best possible football experience.
