Stronger Communities Programme

The Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) provides grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 to community organisations and local governments for small capital projects that deliver social benefits for local communities.

Successful projects are selected by Members of Parliament (MPs) and their community consultation committees, and are then submitted to the Government for assessment.

Further details on SCP, including application guidelines, can be found here. Applications close on 22 March 2021 at 5pm.

The programme’s description suggests that the “input of the community is a key element of the SCP” - this means it will be up to each club to make a compelling case to their local Federal MP to be selected. You can search for the name and address of your local Federal MP here.

We understand it can be a daunting process to approach your Federal MP and that is why both our regional Club Ambassadors and FV’s Government Relations team are here to help. To get the ball rolling, we have constructed a draft letter that you can use to send to your local MP. Feel free to use it as the basis of your submission - or you may prefer to draft one yourself. You may also have an existing relationship with your local Member where you can liaise more directly.

After an incredibly difficult 2020, where we know many facility upgrades and repairs were put on hold, we believe this is a fantastic opportunity for our clubs to secure funding that will help improve their facilities.

Should you have further questions regarding the process, don’t hesitate to contact Sebastian Hassett, Head of Facilities and Government Relations. We are determined to help your club get the facilities they deserve.
