Stories of Female Football Week: Guillaume Nollett

Women and girls make an incredible contribution to our game, both on and off the pitch. Throughout Female Football Week (1-10 May), we will be sharing YOUR stories to celebrate this contribution with the wider Victorian football community.

Today, Guillaume Nollett on how a little opportunity can go a long way.

I used to be the first one to say having a ratio of 50-50 female male participants in soccer was impossible to achieve.

But since I started coaching my 8-year-old daughter girls’ team, everything changed.

We had to create two teams due to numbers and now I’m the first person to say “give them the opportunity to play and they will come.”

With our younger girls, it started differently than with our boys’ teams. We focused on having fun, promoting friendships and playing games. It has continued to grow from there.

For everyone out there, the girls are here and waiting to be given opportunities. It’s time for female football to shine!
