SAP Gala Day brings clubs together for a fun day of football

On Saturday 18th August 2018, Football Federation Victoria held a SAP Gala day on the surfaces of the newly relayed Synthetic pitches at Darebin International Sports Centre (DISC) in Thornbury.

Over 400 players, coaches, volunteers and parents from 45 teams braved the wet and windy conditions for what was an enjoyable day of football.

The day began with a SAP workshop delivered by FFA Boys Talent Development Manager, Kevin Grima, where 38 coaches and 12 players took part in practical and theory components.

The Workshop included a practical delivered session from the new SAP Game Intervention Game (G.I.G) methodology manual, which is a free resource for all coaches to use and can be found in the link provided:

Girls, boys and mixed teams attended the SAP Gala day from all parts of Victoria, with some teams travelling over 3 hours to play matches against SAP clubs.

Appreciation must be shown to all players, referees, club volunteers, coaches and parents as without them, the day would not have been such a great success.
