A strong Victorian contingent will head to Blacktown (NSW) next week, as the Young Matildas ramp up preparations for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022™.
Head Coach Leah Blayney has called up 27 young guns from around the country for the five-day-non-residential camp, with six Victorians among the group.
On behalf of our entire football community, we congratulate Naomi Chinnama, Holly Furphy, Alana Jancevski, Caitlyn Karic, Alana Murphy and Paige Zois, as well as the rest of the attendees who have earned the call-up.
Of the Victorians, Holly Furphy will attend her first Commbank Young Matildas training camp this year. The young Victorian has impressed at the Santa Clara University (USA) recently and now has a prime opportunity to put her hand up for a spot in the tournament side.
The training camp marks the Commonwealth Bank Young Matildas’ third assembly since their participation in August’s tournament was confirmed in March.
It is the latest activity for the U-20 Women’s National Team as they work towards their opening match against Costa Rica on 10 August 2022 at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica.
