Mariners sink Hume in stoppage time in 2019 FFA Cup Quarter Final

Central Coast Mariners left it late to sink Hume City, booking their final four berth courtesy of Abraham Majok's scrappy stoppage time strike.

The Mariners overcame a valiant Hume City 1-0 thanks to Majok's stoppage time heroics.

  • James Brown had a the best chance for the hosts when the ball fell invitingly for him in the box but could only put his effort into the side netting.
  • Samuel Silvera, who scored his first goal in professional football in the Mariners' Round of 16 win against Brisbane Roar, saw a lovely strike beat Hume 'keeper Michael Weier and hit the post, before Daniel De Silva put the follow up over the bar early in the second half.
  • Milan Duric upped the Mariners pressure and forced Weier into a smart parry to push his free kick wide, while Tommy Oar had a huge chance to nick it late but blazed his shot wide.
  • But with extra time looming, Majok put the Mariners into the Semi-Finals by turning the ball over the line after Hume had failed to clear a Silvera corner.
