Postponement of GO Football Cups and Boys & Girls FC competitions

In the best interests of community health and wellbeing, Football Victoria (FV) has postponed the forthcoming GO Football Cups and Boys & Girls FC competitions.

We are currently advising all those registered to participate in GO Football Cups and Boys & Girls FC competitions of the postponement and will provide refunds where requested.

This decision relates to all age groups in GO Football Cups (U/9 to U/16 Boys & Girls) in Metro Zones (North, South, East and West) and Regional Zones (Geelong, Goulburn, North West and Gippsland). The competition was due to commence on Monday 30 March and was scheduled to run until Friday 10 July.

The decision also affects all age groups (U/9 to U/16 Boys and Girls) due to compete in the Boys & Girls FC tournament at Epson Huntley Reserve, Bendigo, on the weekend of March 21-22.

The aim of these competitions is to create a fun and social environment to interact with the sport.

However, given these extenuating circumstances, and after extensive consultation with the football community, we do not believe proceeding with these competitions is in the best interests of the participants.

The revised dates for the above events will be communicated in due course and registrations will be transferred to the new dates when confirmed.

In line with the above, and as noted in previous correspondence, the following events have also been postponed:

  • The Community in Business Breakfast scheduled for 25 March – all registered attendees will receive separate communications
  • The Futsal State Championships scheduled for 30 March to 1 April – again, all registered attendees will receive separate correspondence.

FV encourages all clubs and individuals continue to monitor health advice from the appropriate authorities – including the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorian-public-coronavirus-disease-covid-19.

At this stage, all FV competitions are continuing or will commence as scheduled. FV will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation on a daily basis and provide updates on our website should this position change.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these decisions but please be assured that the footballing and broader community’s health and safety is our number one priority.
