Postponement of Female Football Festival and Other Events

In the best interests of community health and wellbeing, Football Victoria (FV) has taken the difficult decision to postpone the Female Football Festival on Saturday 14 March at the Darebin International Sports Centre.

We are currently advising all those registered to attend the Female Football Festival of the postponement and will provide refunds in full.

Regarding opportunities for those impacted by the postponement, FV is seeking how to best connect players with their most appropriate local club programs.

FV remains committed to growing the game for women and girls across Victoria and the Female Football Festival is a key plank of our ongoing strategy. Given current circumstances, we do not believe proceeding this weekend will allow the festival to achieve its aims in supporting this growth and accordingly we would prefer to run the festival at a time where its value and strategic impact can be maximised.

In line with the above, we also advise of the postponement of two further events:

  • The Community in Business Breakfast scheduled for 25 March – all registered attendees will receive separate communications
  • The Futsal State Championships scheduled for 30 March to 1 April – again, all registered attendees will receive separate correspondence.

The revised dates for all of the above events will be communicated in due course.

Other events and activities are proceeding as planned, however this position is under continual review.

FV encourages all clubs and individuals continue to monitor health advice from the appropriate authorities – including the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorian-public-coronavirus-disease-covid-19.

At this stage, all FV competitions are continuing or will commence as scheduled. FV will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation on a daily basis and provide updates on our website should this position change.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these decisions but please be assured that the footballing and broader community’s health and safety is our number one priority.
