Join us for the women & girls referees workshop: Players and Referees – Can they be friends?

Football Victoria is thrilled to showcase its newest and exciting referees event designed specifically for women and girls, Players and Referees – Can They Be Friends? Hosted by a star-studded panel of Players and Officials, the event will be held online on October 6 and focus on the relationship between players and officials.

Women and girls football is thriving in 2021. There are more pathways than ever to play our beautiful game and with the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023TM  fast approaching, investment and opportunities have never been greater.

But have you ever considered becoming a referee? It’s an often-overlooked pathway by young Victorians, particularly women and girls – but that’s beginning to change.

Refereeing is a brilliant way to stay involved in our game. It teaches you leadership skills, the ability to communicate with influence and keeps you fit. Better yet, it offers rewarding part-time job opportunities and has the potential to open pathways to an exciting long-term career.

If you’ve considered stepping into the world of refereeing, or are keen to learn more, the Football Victoria team encourages you to attend our newest event, Players and Referees – Can They Be Friends?

We also strongly encourage current and former referees to attend as there will be great insights from experienced refs and players, as well as the opportunity to learn from some of the best in a fun and social atmosphere.

The night’s key focus will be on the relationship between players and referees. You will gain valuable insight from both sides of the fence on what makes a good referee, effective communication techniques and the challenges involved in officiating.

As a part of the event, you’ll have the chance to interact with professional players and referees in a safe environment, have the opportunity to ask questions and gain insight from some of the football industry’s leading professionals.

The event is totally FREE to attend and will include a competition with some awesome prizes!

It is also the perfect opportunity to introduce a guest to the world of refereeing.

If you’ve got a parent, family member, friend, or know anybody else who might be interested in attending and learning more about refereeing, the Football Victoria team would love to welcome them with open arms to join in on the fun.
