National Volunteer Week: Michael Sposato

On Day 4 of National Volunteer Week, presented by the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation, we’re saying thanks to Michael Sposato.

Michael has volunteered at Sunshine Heights Junior Soccer Club for over 30 years, previously as Secretary and Treasurer, and now as Club President - a role he has held for the past 16 years.

In addition to being Club President, Michael is at the club on all training nights and game days. He sets up the grounds on game days and even runs/cooks in the canteen.

Michael orders equipment & team kits, manages registration and holds club meetings with coaches, council and sponsors. He is involved and active in every aspect of the club.

Michael is passionate about soccer, dedicated to giving every child in the community access to play this wonderful sport. He believes sport is important to the health of children and gives them the opportunity to not only learn soccer skills, but also learn how to work in a team and have fun. The club supports many disadvantaged families and Michael is determined to give every child the opportunity to play, working tirelessly to secure sponsorship to make his dream possible.

Michael, your outstanding contribution to football and to your club deserves acknowledgement! We're pleased to shortlist you for the Volunteer of the Year Award at the FV Community Awards later this year.

You'll also receive an FV prize pack, and your club will receive an FV training pack.

Thank you to Sunshine Heights Junior Soccer Club for nominating Michael and allowing us to share his story with our community.
