2023 Metro Club of the Year: Manningham United Blues

Manningham United Blues was named 2023 Metro Club of the Year at the FVCIB Full-Time Luncheon on Thursday, November 16 as part of the 2023 Football Victoria Community Awards.

Nestled in the heart of Melbourne's eastern suburbs, Manningham United boasts one of the largest memberships in the region while fostering one of the fastest-growing female sporting programs in the City of Manningham.

Manningham United President, Nick Raptopoulos said it was a "great achievement" to be recognised for their hard work over a long period of time.

"We started off as a pretty small community club and we have worked hard to put on the right programs for the masses," Raptopoulos explained.

"We have been able to grow our community from junior boys, MiniRoos, and over the last year we have had over 600% growth in our female program."

Raptopoulos said he believed the club was rewarded for their good culture and having the right people in the right roles.

"We don't want there to be that disconnect, so what we do for the men, we also do for the women," he said.

"We support both groups, and we encourage the senior women and junior women to go and take part in our MiniRoos and our All-Abilities program, it makes the whole club feel like they are cared about."

Manningham’s commitment to Women’s Football, through events like the Manningham Female Football Shield, has triggered extraordinary growth in female participation - a remarkable surge of 650% increase within just four years. On top of this, their dedication to inclusivity is front and centre through their All Abilities Programs run in collaboration with local NDIS partners.
