FV continues to be a proud partner of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation

Although the on-field action is currently at a standstill, Football Victoria continues to act as a proud partner of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation.

The Love the Game Sporting Club Program is an initiative of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation. The program aims to reduce the exposure of young people to sports betting promotions and to disrupt the ‘normalisation’ of betting on sport.

Young people have never known a time when betting wasn’t a part of sport. Prolific advertising makes it seem like sports betting is a normal activity, that everyone is doing it and that everybody wins. When something is normal, it can feel like there is no risk, which is a concern to parents, especially, as well as the broader community.

In working towards the Foundation’s vision of a Victoria free from gambling-related harm, we partner with more than 400 local and elite sporting clubs through the program. Our partners agree that sport and gambling don’t have to go together and they take a stand to protect the well being of young people by saying no to sports betting sponsorship.

Sport is enjoyable on its own and it has lots of benefits, among them the development of physical skills, leadership ability, strategic thinking, teamwork and just having fun. If you agree, we encourage you to get involved in the Love the Game program and to talk to young people about the risks associated with sports betting.

Join the program and clubs around the state in supporting young people to love the game, not the odds!
