Football Victoria X Siren Emerging Sports Writer Program

Football Victoria (FV), in conjunction with Siren Sports, are proud to announce the successful candidates in the Football Victoria X Siren Emerging Sports Writer Program.

The program is focused on providing training and pathway opportunities for women with a desire to work in sports media.

While the program ordinarily only selects one candidate at each intake, Siren Sports and FV have expanded the arrangement to select three fantastic female candidates.

We'd like to extend our congratulations to the successful candidates - Sienna Nobile, Lauren McIntosh and Seraphina Newton.

Siren will craft tailored programs for these three candidates, to help them gain experience, build their portfolio of published work and widen their networks.

Siren co-founder Dr Kasey Symons was thrilled by the news of Football Victoria’s additional support.

“This is incredibly exciting, as supporting women wanting to work in sports media is a big driver of Siren’s mission. We love being able to offer our experience, knowledge and support to do what we can to help to change the landscape of sports media and we know that a big part of that for women is forming relationships and building networks.

“That this round of the Siren Emerging Sports Writer Program has that element of networking and developing relationships built into it now, by Football Victoria going above and beyond in their support by bringing three women into the program, is fantastic.”

Football Victoria CEO, Kimon Taliadoros is enthusiastic about providing pathways for women in media, through football.

“It’s widely known that Football Victoria is dedicated to achieving gender equity across participation by 2027 – but importantly, we need to also drive change off the pitch.

“Providing opportunities that encourage women and girls to forge a career in sport is absolutely vital. We congratulate the candidates and are looking forward to working with Siren, to harness their full potential.”
