Football Victoria announces $650,000 Debt Relief Hardship Program

Following extensive consultation with Victorian Clubs/Associations and with the cooperation of the Victorian State Government, Football Australia and Football Victoria, we are pleased to today announce the establishment of a $650,000 relief package via a Debt Relief Hardship Policy.

The intention of this policy is to direct debt relief to those clubs that are under the greatest threat of survival from the repercussions of the cancelled 2020 season. It is to ensure the survival of the Victorian Clubs that are experiencing genuine financial hardship and most need our support.

As the governing body, we simply won’t allow Clubs to be left in such a precarious position that they face closure, as a result of football’s shutdown during the global pandemic. The demands on our game are too great – we have a responsibility to provide more opportunities to play, not less. For that to happen, we need our Clubs to survive, then thrive throughout 2021 and beyond.

With that in mind, from today, Clubs/Associations can formally apply for debt hardship relief through the program. Details on the eligibility criteria and application process have been emailed to Clubs.

We believe this assistance will go a long way to easing the financial burden and associated stress that Clubs are facing, allowing the focus to turn to building towards the 2021 season.

We thank all Clubs and Associations for your united approach, working through the unique issues faced across our football community. We look forward to activating this Debt Relief Hardship Program quickly to give all stakeholders confidence and clarity heading into the season.
