Football suspension continues in Victoria

The Victorian Government has today announced a lockdown extension for Victoria. For Metropolitan Melbourne, the lockdown is extended until 70% of the eligible population have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, estimated to be around September 23. Regional Victoria may be able to emerge from lockdown at an earlier date, pending future announcements.

Football Victoria’s Board of Directors will now meet promptly to consider the impacts on all 2021 competitions and our Victorian football/Futsal stakeholders. This will be communicated as quickly as possible to provide a roadmap for our community on the remainder of the season for each competition.

Those Clubs who have teams participating in competitions administered by a Regional Association, should await information on their season status directly from their Member Association, following any upcoming announcements on regional areas.

To ensure we can navigate this current wave as quickly as possible, it is essential you everyone adheres to Government directions. Learn more about the essential steps here.

I would like to sincerely thank all of you for your patience throughout these lockdowns. We absolutely understand the need for clarity on the 2021 season, following today’s announcement. Please be assured we will provide this information as quickly as possible, once those determinations have been made.

Until then, please stay safe.
