FFV Celebrates 'Love the Game' Round

Football Federation Victoria (FFV) would like to thank the 21 Clubs signed up to the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation's 'Love the Game' program.

The objective of the Love the Game Round is to interrupt the normalisation of gambling in sport created through prolific sports betting advertising. In addition to celebrating our game in its pure form, the round provides an opportunity for parents and carers to have ‘The Talk’ with their kids about gambling.

The purpose of ‘The Talk’ is to:

  • promote awareness of the impact gambling advertising has on the way children and young adults experience sport
  • encourage parents/carers to have a conversation with their children about gambling and highlight the risks involved.

Over the weekend, parents, coaches, teachers and others have an opportunity to remind kids that sport and betting don't have to go together. Ask them to have ‘the talk’ with the kids in their lives.

FFV CEO Peter Filopoulos was thrilled to hear the role FFV Clubs were playing in the themed round.

"FFV and its clubs are embracing 'Love the Game' round and its values demonstrates our ongoing commitment to club education and enhancing the experience of being involved in football," Filopoulos said.

“These 21 FFV clubs will join hundreds of other sporting clubs across various codes, from the elite level to the community in hosting the Love the Game themed round. Coming together through the shared love of sport, the focus is about reminding clubs and local communities that it’s the game that really matters, not the odds.”
