All Abilities Come and Try in Geelong with the Cats

After two years of no sports and events, participants from Geelong were more keen than ever to Come and Try a variety of different sports, with their favourite AFL, AFLW players and Paralympians.

On Sunday the 3rd of April, Football Victoria along with over 17 other sports, attended the All Abilities Come and Try day at Kardinia Park Stadium Precinct in Geelong. This event organised by Leisure networks, provides interested participants residing in Geelong to gather and try different sports.

Special guest appearances from the AFL and AFLW from Geelong Cats included Georgie Rankin, Sam De Koning and Paul Tsapatolis.

AFL players Sam and Paul enjoyingly joined in on the fun to play football with participants, which turned into an exciting match for participants.

Special guest appearances from the Paralympics included Melanie Domaschenz who plays Wheelchair Basketball, and was born in Geelong herself. The second Paralympian guest appearance was Sam McIntosh who races in the T52, 100m, 200m and 400m events, and has been since 2011.

Football Victoria offer various forms of football for people with a disability and/or impairment, creating opportunities for all. To achieve this, Football Victoria also works with other organisations to create the best programs possible and expose participants to the worlds game. Football was very popular at the event, and Football Victoria looks forward to growing football opportunities in Geelong.
