Advanced Pathway Coaching Course

On Thursday 3rd December, the FV Technical Department will commence the 4th ‘hybrid’ advanced pathway course for the Victorian coaching community since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

30 candidates will switch their computers on to participate in Day 1 (theory), a two-hour online presentation and discussion to start their C Senior Licence. The online learning opportunity will take the place of some of the usual in-person sessions.

‘We are working hard to provide a variety of flexible options for coaching courses,’ said FV Technical Director, Boris Seroshtan.

‘We recently completed the theory modules of Week 1 of a B Licence and will now bring those 25 coaches in for additional theory and practical modules before they return to their Clubs to prepare for Week 2’.

Craig Moore, FV Coach Education Manager is looking forward to building on the hybrid programs in the future.

‘It has been really interesting, and challenging, to create these hybrid courses. Previously we had direct access to interact with the coaches but now we have to try to read and engage with a virtual room. It will be interesting to hear the feedback of how the coaches felt about their learning environment before we look at community course delivery.’

An additional 40 coaches have begun their C Youth Licence and are due to return in person to undertake the practical modules, as well as additional theory.

With over 1,700 coaches having recently registered and engaged on a virtual Coaching Conference supported by FFA/Member Federations, it looks like the future of coach education may include more informal and non-formal learning.
